Profile / Skills:
I’m former Appalachian State International Studies student and published
poet looking for employment with your publishing house to be of better service
to society, my family, and myself. As an exponent of the ideals of liberalism
such as individualism, virtuosity, and meliorism, I would like to put my
intellect to work in shaping the Discourse as to not only accommodate but
evolve the ideals of liberalism to a degree commensurate with our
civilizational development since modern liberal society’s tumultuous birth.
My book of poetry, “As Below, So Above” is available through the Vanguard
Press imprint of Pegasus Publishers in the United Kingdom and in As Below,
So Above I try to impress upon the reader a postmodern sense of Greco-Roman
virtue through various different poetic personas that could sustain the reader
through every day or emancipatory struggles. I’m applying with your publishing
house as a novelist because I have several novels in the works that, were I
provided the economic leeway needed to properly research them, could come to
profitable fruition for your publishing house. In 2011 I was awarded the John
Foster West Poetry Scholarship while attending Appalachian State and am
well-acquainted with what not only reverberates but resonates and resounds with
a postmodern literary audience. Among the prospective novels I desire to write
are the day-to-day travels of a pair of Plague Doctors during the Thirty Years’
War, a novel akin to Game of Throne about the cataclysmic events leading up to
and including the Siege of Malta, and a trilogy about the French Revolution,
the Napoleonic Era, and the birth of the Victorian Age in the fires of the
Battle of Trafalgar.
I would also like to pen a novel about the Battle of Spotsylvania in the
spirit of Michael Shaara but such a work, for me, may be years or decades in
the making given the necessity of researching the Northern and Southern
generals’ correspondence pursuant of remedying the scar the battle left on our maturing
nation’s memory through the literary arts.
